United We Serve

United We Serve PDF Author: E.J. Dionne
Publisher: Brookings Institution Press
ISBN: 9780815718642
Category : Political Science
Languages : en
Pages : 358
Book Description
Public rhetoric in the United States has always laid heavy stress on the obligations of citizenship. Bill Clinton praised the idea of service, and so does George W. Bush. Since September 11, the debate over service and the obligations of citizenship has become even more urgent. United We Serve gathers many diverse voices on civic life and civic obligation to explore the idea of national service as it relates to citizenship. Activists and practitioners discuss the rise of the service movement, its practical successes, and its challenges. Policymakers and political leaders explore the links between service and problem solving. Political scientists and philosophers connect the service debate to larger concerns about democratic participation. The book also includes a lively debate over whether the U.S. should reconsider compulsory national service. The discussion about service is a debate over how Americans think of themselves and their nation—and about what the "new patriotism" means. Contributors include: Daniel Blumenthal, Harry Boyte, John M. Bridgeland, Louis Caldera, Bruce Chapman, former President Bill Clinton, Charles Cobb Jr., Jane Eisner, Jean Bethke Elshtain, William Galston, Stephen Goldsmith, Robert D. Haas, Stephen Hess, Peter D. Hart and Mario A. Brossard, Alan Khazei, John Lehman, Leslie Lenkowsky, Paul C. Rivlin, Michael Schudson, Mark Shields, Carmen Sirianni, Theda Skocpol, Andrew L. Stern, Jeff Swartz, Steven Waldman, Caspar Weinberger, David Winston, Harris Wofford, and Robert Wuthnow.

Book Description
Most executives know their company's values and brand message, but often they fail to make sure that everyone else knows them too. The result? A weak brand that conveys different messages inside the company--and out in the marketplace. United We Brand offers a hands-on action plan for building a cohesive brand strategy from the ground up. Drawing from two decades of experience creating brand identities for companies including Dell, Cisco, and Kia Motors, Mike Moser provides a proven template for transforming disparate, "fuzzy" brand information into a concrete guidepost for making day-to-day branding decisions. Called the "Brand Roadmap," this valuable tool enables organizations of all sizes and kinds to leverage insights and strategies once only available through big-gun consulting and ad agencies. Step by step, it guides readers through the four key components of brand strategy: identifying core values, creating a focused brand message, developing a distinctive brand personality, and choosing a consistent set of brand icons. Filled with vivid case examples and practical worksheets, United We Brand is essential for anyone involved in charting a company's distinctive path to success. Wake up Black Man and Black Woman

Wake up Black Man and Black Woman PDF Author: Alpha Omega Riddick
Publisher: Xlibris Corporation
ISBN: 9781450055406
Category : Self-Help
Languages : en
Pages : 164
Book Description
Black people of America, we need to stop reading books about thug life and street life. We need to read books that will open our minds to ideas and issues that will help us and our families and the future of black generations of this country. Black people of America, we were here before most of the other nationalities that are here now. We should be in a much better financial situation than we are in now. Most of us are at the bottom or near the bottom of the economic scale as a whole. We have to learn from the foreigners that stick together and open up businesses in our community. Plus we have to stop giving our hard-earned money to other nationalities and none to ourselves; in a way, we are still slaves. I wrote this book to inspire Black Americans to open there eyes to the positive changes we need to make to help our families and future black generations in America. This book shows how we are living compared to other nationalities in America, as well as the factors that are holding us back as a whole. We must remember our ancestors and the sacrifices they made when they were slaves. They were the strongest people in the world, and we are their descendants. I feel they were superhuman beings to make that trip from Africa to America. We as black Americans have that same ability in us to survive. Remember, we are the alpha race. We need to wake up and stop hitting the snooze button. May God bless this book and everyone that reads it.
